Social media marketing is constantly evolving and you need to stay up to date if you want to have steady sales results. You have probably created pages on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and other popular networks already. However, all those social media demand a good strategy because they consist of many different elements.

Facebook Messenger app is one of the features that you can use to boost your social media marketing and generate more leads. Facebook mobile messenger has more than 1.2 billion monthly active users worldwide, ranking second among mobile chat apps globally. It’s a huge potential for your company and you should utilize it as soon as possible.

According to Mark Jones, a social media expert at Best Essays, this app is the easiest model for marketers to approach potential customers directly. Mark explained it briefly: “There is no better way to establish the direct interaction with your customer than using Facebook Messenger. The app is omnipresent and all you need to do is to create a strategy about how to exploit this tool.” In this article, I am going to show you 5 great tips to improve social media marketing using this messaging app.

1. The Messenger Auto Reply

Social networks are a 24-hour business and you cannot just sit back and relax when it comes to potential customers. They are online all the time and you need to be there to support them whenever necessary. Of course, this is not an easy task and you won’t be able to do it yourself, regardless of the size of your marketing team or customer service.

But there is the one really good thing about Facebook Messenger – it offers you the so-called Response Assistant. With this feature, you can auto reply to user requests and give them the initial feedback instantly. What is even better is that you have 250 characters at your disposal to come up with the message. You should use this space to create a proactive auto reply with an appealing call to action.

You can redirect a customer to the website or invite him or her to give you a call or send an email. Try to personalize communication addressing your customers by their names. It will make the conversation look more natural and strengthen your relations with potential buyers. This is extremely important as more than 70% of Facebook Messenger users actually purchase products online.

To create your auto reply message, simply open the Settings page on Facebook and click Response Assistant in messaging. Once you choose ‘Yes’ as an option, you are free to write the message.

2. Utilize Facebook Messenger ads

There are almost no social media and messaging apps which don’t include some sort of advertising. Facebook is no different in that regard and it is one more reason why you have to use the network’s Messenger marketing. It gives you the opportunity to engage new customers and remind the old ones of your products or services. You can choose between the two versions of Facebook Messenger ads or use them simultaneously.

  • Destination Ads: This type of Facebook Messenger ads is positioned on the user’s news feed page but it redirects him or her to your message after clicking on it. This is where all the fun starts as you need to design an amusing message with a clear call to action included. Marketers usually create Facebook Messenger ads in Power Editor or sometimes in Ads Manager through the feature called Destination Ads at the ad level. It allows you to design your promotional message just like regular news feed ad with photos, video recordings, presentations, or slideshows – what you add to it depends only on your creativity and the goal of your campaign.

  • Sponsored Messages: The principle with sponsored messages is simple – users receive these in the Inbox. They contain promotional content about your brand, usually with some sort of special offer included. It could be discount price, coupon, or the first-time buyer incentive. The way you design it is this: choose the Sponsored Messages option at the ad creation bar in Power Editor. How simple, right?

3. Messenger Bots

Facebook Messenger Bots are AI tools that you use as the means of communication with potential customers. They are online 24/7 and have the ability to establish a simple conversation with the user. The more they communicate with users, the more they learn about their needs, which is how messenger bots keep evolving over time. They are designed to write friendly messages, so users won’t feel like talking to the robot.

But in order to make a good Facebook Messenger Bot, you need to understand target consumers and write good scripts. What you should do is walk in the shoes of an average customer and ask yourself all those questions that he or she would ask your bot. After that, you need to come up with some good answers in all sorts of variations to indulge your followers.

If you are one of many marketers who don’t really enjoy coding, I suggest you use Chatfuel to create bots. It allows you to build the bots simply – all you have to do is to write the text and edit it if necessary.

4. Facebook Messenger Is a Great Targeting Tool

With so many millions of active users involved in Facebook messaging on a daily basis, you can take advantage of it and target new purchasers. Digital marketing has evolved significantly over the last few years and you should learn how to exploit Facebook Messenger as the targeting tool.

Namely, this app enables you to reach each user individually and customize the message so as to fit his or her personal preferences. Doing so, you increase the odds of obtaining new followers and earning yourself new buyers, respectively. But there are some things that you have to keep in mind while using Facebook Messenger as the tool to boost social media marketing:

  • You have to be responsive and answer all inquiries promptly. You can achieve this using Instant Replies but be aware that users always want precise and meaningful answers.
  • You need to be prepared and provide all information relevant to the product. Don’t forget to explain important features of your brand and be as informative as possible.
  • Remind your customers that you are there. Send them notifications about your sales promotions, events, or discounts. Whenever you have a reason, feel free to announce it.

5. Improve Your Customer Service

Customer relations are the most important brand differentiator these days, becoming even more important that the products and their prices. In such circumstances, you need to utilize Facebook Messenger and allow customers to communicate with you without interferences. That’s why it is crucial to keep the engines working all the time and not to allow any kind of problem to step in your way.

Your Facebook Messenger service has to be fully operational day and night. Besides that, it has to provide users with comprehensive answers, meaning that you have to prepare for it 100% before the launch of this service. Make sure to include each department of your company in the development of your Facebook Messenger service because this is the only way to make it flawless and data-rich.

I agree with you. Most people don’t use messenger application which has more than 50,000,000 downloads as a marketing platform. This is one of the best places to promote your products and services rather than just posting on facebook. The users on messenger application are the one’s with smart phones and as the results show most smartphones are owned by millennials, who have the highest buying capacity.
So, try and use Messenger as marketing platform it has worked like a charisma for me in the past.
    Great post Brenda. Keep writing.

    Great post!
I am a novice blogger and I tried to promote my content over messenger once and it cost me around $20 for 4 days and results were not that good, the traffic didn’t increase that much. I am not able to spend about $200 every month on messenger ads.Is there a cheap way around to promote my content. Awaiting your reply?

Hey Brenda, Nice article. I especially loved the part where you talk about Auto reply messages. These auto-reply messages are something that I have been struggling a lot with these days. I am actually confused if I use this the feeling of personal touch will be erased and I would loose the traffic that I get. What do you recommend I do? Should I outsource for messaging? Awaiting your reply. Cheers

Very resourceful post! I have a query do you think using bots to reply is a good thing. What is the reply bot is looking for is not given by the customer and the bot keeps asking the same question again and again. Wouldn’t he/she get irritated.
