I am Adam Singer, a freelance SEO working at Ability SEO aka Ability Inbound Marketing.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

It’s gotten much, much better. It’s much less about finding ways to abuse Google’s algorithm and more about how to create websites and content that most effectively searcher’s intent to the way Google attempts to satisfy that searcher. I can’t remember the exact date when Google went from 10 blue links to the super-mega-rank-brain-penguin-panda-pigeon…SERP we experience now, but it’s made the work of SEO’s so much more interesting and important for any business that’s serious about getting found from searchers on Google.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

I honestly can’t remember. I remember hearing about a friend who built a website using WordPress and taking a class on Lynda.com about SEO. I think I learned about Moz from the Lynda.com class.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

I help clients get website traffic, convert that traffic to actionable sales leads, and nurture those sales leads into warm “close-able” sales. My toolbox includes SEO, HubSpot, WordPress, content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, website development, and public relations. I have partners I work with for some of these services. My core service is SEO.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

Strive to understand what your target market is looking for, be what answers their questions, adds the most value and communicate these things to Google in every acceptable way (images, videos, inbound links, social media)

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

Start with the free certifications on HubSpot get a blog on WordPress.com or somewhere else free or cheap, connect it to Facebook, Twitter, and one other social media platform you like then get to work creating great content on anything you care about.
