Mr. Calderon acts as a marketing researcher by collecting information on customer views, investment and marketing trends, to later analyze data and information to present to clients and help them make knowledgeable financial decisions about their marketing campaigns, in other words he helps clients to preserve what is doing fine in a campaign and avoid or suspend what is not, that way customers end up saving money on their campaigns, he is a strong believer in provide the best value for his clients. Dr. Calderon holds a master’s degree in psychology from The University of Phoenix and a Doctoral degree in Business and Marketing from Capella University. He speaks fluent English and Spanish as well as basic Italian, French and Portuguese.

Please introduce yourself and where you work.

Dr. Carlos Calderon, PhD., president/CEO at Calderon Marketing Systems. I am an executive /corporate level marketing consultant for a growing number of small to high volume businesses, providing direction to owners/operators on how to ignite sales growth through our proprietary marketing method with excellent results.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

SEO changes as technology changes, unfortunately, there are those who want shortcuts indexing websites in the first page of the search engines, these black hat practices have forced companies like Google to produce algorithms that detect and impede black hat practices, but as algorithms fade their effectiveness is lost, so new algorithms are created all the time. This fact affects the good guys, so white hat SEO pros must adapt to changes, sometimes those changes affect ranking and new strategies and efforts must be applied to remain at the top.
The use of mobile technology also influences the way people are looking for businesses, cell phones, tablets and smartwatches are now being used to surf the web and find content, even using the user’s voice; there are more advanced mobile devices now and the number of users connected to the web also increases as these technologies become more popular and subsequently more affordable to the public. Good website content is also key; now a few keywords are not enough, but good, interesting topics and great content also help businesses and services to be indexed better and be found by prospects.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

Incidentally. Opened a business consultancy and end up with clients looking for marketing related needs, because most business owners need help in the advertising and marketing field. In 2009 I founded Business Management Concepts, LLC and started working as a business consultant. Most business owners were looking for marketing and advertising services, so I started the division in the company that ultimately became a marketing agency exclusively after several successful projects. In 2012 after a change in the board of directors we decided to close the former company to open our current agency and serve marketing projects exclusively. We are a full-service digital marketing agency. We are white hat SEO experts, but SEO is just one of the many services we provide.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

Our services include Marketing consulting, Search marketing, PPC management, Email Marketing, Marketing Automation, Social media optimization and management, Website design, development and maintenance, Mobile apps development, Marketing plan and strategy design, Competitor analysis, Google Analytics set up.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

The use of fresh content and good links will be a must in 2018! Is no secret that search engines like Google likes fresh, updated content to rank websites on page one. Audiovisual content is a trend now, the use of quality video, animations and images are now popular. Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest helped to raise the popularity of images to catch the public’s attention and is a trend that shows no sign to stop, in fact, is growing, and growing fast! Blogging is also popular and a good strategy, adding a blog to a website will help to engage visitors and gives the author the opportunity to inform them about interesting and updated topics, is also a way to communicate a message that could help visitors to define a marketing plan idea to start a campaign.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

Stay updated with the latest technology that you can grab at the moment, before we could work with really expensive equipment like $5,000 iMac pros for graphic design and the like we started with regular but capable equipment, remember that quality is always first so a little investment is required, never put price over quality, only the best for your clients, and always keep your word, being honorable and respectful with customers, do not lie if you cannot perform some tasks, if a customer is not a good fit for us I let them know and refer them to other colleagues of my trust, I have my customers covered. Define your area of expertise and focus on doing that. Explain to clients how you are going to work and the value you provide. We are experts in all internet marketing services, but our strong area is SEO, we use the proprietary software tools that set us apart from other agencies, so besides being an expert in a specific field you must innovate and offer real value, all our clients receive V.I.P. treatment no matter how big or small the project is, we dedicate the same seriousness and effort to every project.
