June 16, 2022 | Interview

Dario Zadro is a web technology strategist with over 15 years of professional experience, most recently the owner of Zadro Web, where the focus is custom web design and cloud hosted solutions, where UX meets SEO for results-driven strategies to increase your website’s visibility and sales.

Please introduce yourself and where you work.

Hello! I’m Dario Zadro, the owner of Zadro Web, where we bring the best of UX and SEO together to create beautiful web experiences that gain traffic and sales. Our company originally started as an IT company, and that has continually provided an edge. It’s been over 10 years of business in the digital marketing space, and I’ve worked with smaller companies to Fortune 100 brands. We’re starting to now go back to our roots! Understanding server technologies, and being able to build scalable web hosting solutions for our clients, has allowed us to always be one step ahead with the latest web technologies. By building custom web experiences that convert on individualized cloud platforms, we turn traffic into measurable ROI.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

If you look at the roots of SEO, not much has changed. The goal has always been to build the best user experience, which in turn, creates brand authority and sales. However, thetactics of SEO have changed tremendously. What you could once do with massive links, you can longer do. Links do help a lot still, but I’m starting to see much more emphasis on user behavior translating into rankings. Also, Google has been laying the ground work for voice search for a few years now with “position zero” results. Getting this coveted SERP spot should be the goal of all SEOs for their clients. SEO will continue to change to an ever-advancing emphasis on the technical aspects of SEO.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

I’ve been building websites since I was an intern at Lucent Technologies, back in 1999. Back then, it was just HTML and some lite Pearl language to get a website’s form information. Better programming languages like PHP were just coming on to the scene. It was an interesting time for web development. Fast forward a bit, and while building a website for a nw client, they had an “SEO guy” and I was intrigued. I started building SEO into my web development and started reading black hat forums. Understanding best practices in SEO and digital marketing took off from there!

What are the services you provide to your clients?

Our services have ranged the entire digital marketing spectrum, from content marketing, SEO, PPC, social media management, and more. We’re looking to better focus our services in 2018 and beyond to only building highly customized web design and scalable web hosting. Our website design and development takes a highly technical approach to combing UX and SEO, and will continue to do so. Offering stand-alone SEO services to rank websites will slowly be phased out at Zadro Web. Another major service we provide is actually free and ranks in position 1 or 2 for the query “seo audit”, and it’s for our SEO Auditor. This free service will be migrating to a stand-alone solution on GoAuditor.com by the end of 2018.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

For so long, SEOs have put way too much emphasis on what the search engines want. I see 2018 and beyond bringing SEO to where it always should have been, about what the user wants. We’ll see SEO dive much deeper into user behavior and data analysis. SEO is no longer just for anyone to jump into. It’s the big leagues now and any new SEO must understand how users interact, must understand intermediate code for things like JSON-LD, PWAs, and other technical SEO. I get bombarded daily with people trying to sell me links to Forbes, HuffPo, and other news outlets. The links simple don’t matter as much. Knowing how to pivot with these new strategies will be key.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

It’s very simple. Pick one area of digital marketing and become a highly focused expert on that one topic. For example, let’s say a person chooses social media marketing as that one topic. This is still WAY too broad. Become the one SMM that combines data analytics to show user journeys (or something very specific like that), then promote the heck out of that service. Be hyper-focused in whatever you choose.
