Please introduce yourself and where you work.

Hi, I am Jitesh Keswani. I am the Founder of e-Intelligence, a full-service marketing technology solutions agency. I started the agency as a one-man company back in 2007 and today we are a team of over 80 professional digital marketing professionals. We work with clients of all sizes and shapes from different parts of the world.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

While marketing has been practice over many decades, SEO, certainly, is one of the fastest evolving marketing channels of all time. With the evolution of the global search engines like Google, Yahoo-Bing and Baidu, SEO as a dedicated business practice has grown in multitudes. With the fast changing search engine algorithms, the rules of SEO are never the same with the passage of each year. One of the most prominent highlights in this evolution of SEO is, without a doubt, the rise of content in marketing campaigns. Especially after the Panda update in 2011, Google started punishing spammy content as well as keyword stuffing, and favouring high-quality content. Upon the recent years, another major development in the field of SEO has been the mass stamping-out of link schemes and unethical link building practices. Local, has now gained a real important place in the overall SEO strategy for the businesses, both small and large. With the explosion of mobile devices and their fast penetration into consumers’ lives, mobile optimization is now a priority for any SEO campaign. It’s therefore, of utmost value, to the SEO professionals today more than ever to deeply understand where SEO has come and where it stands as against where it started.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

I was always fascinated about the marketing side of the business. So, after I completed my graduation and while working full time, I realized the growing potential of the Internet and how it could benefit the businesses and marketers at large. So, I decided to start my agency. As they say, necessity is the mother of all inventions. So, I had to learn and had to do so very quickly. I got my first few international projects really fast and that’s how I got the real “on-ground” experience of managing digital marketing campaigns. I am an avid learner. So, I kept reading a huge number of industry blogs and books. I took up all the important certifications such as Google Analytics and AdWords certification, Bing Ads certification, etc. It was my passion to learn from my mistake and the never-give-up attitude that brought me a long way to being a leading global digital marketing agency that we are today. Attending the industry conventions and meeting experts from different parts of the world helped me in expanding my SEO knowledge in particular.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

We are a full service marketing technology agency. We provide any and every service when it comes to marketing a business on the web. Right from website design and development to SEO to paid advertising and social media marketing, we custom-design the digital marketing plan for our clients based on their specific needs and objectives. We also offer search engine reputation management services, mobile app development, content creation and marketing services among other niche specific digital marketing services we offer.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2017 for SEO?

The first and most important strategy to gain substantial SEO success in 2017 and beyond is producing amazing content. The standard of ‘amazing’ content goes one notch higher every year. The idea is to make your content stand out from the rest and still provide meaningful and useful ways of being able to interact with your business and brand. Collaborating with online influencers in order to create viral content is the most effective way of gaining higher brand engagement on the web. Also, one must work on making the website increasingly mobile-friend and also offer native content experiences. The faster your website and the easier it is to navigate, the higher will be the overall visitor satisfaction and return ratio. The bottom line is that in 2017 and beyond, the trick is to make your SEO strategy people-focused and not just bot-friendly.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

There is no doubt that digital marketing is one of the most exciting and dynamic careers to be in right now. The landscape of online marketing is constantly evolving. This is an industry for the passionate and hard-working professionals. You are always on your toes and need to stay up-to-date with the fast changing rules of the digital marketing game. Having said that being street-smart is your only option to survive and escalate higher in this densely competitive niche. With the rapidly increasing penetration of the web and social media into consumers’ lives as well as daily business operations, the field of digital marketing is booming and so are the career prospects and growth opportunities. This is the only industry, wherein you can be cost-effective and enjoy extremely high ROI rates. This industry is for both left- as well as right-brained professionals. All the digital marketing campaigns fuel creativity and at the same time demands an up-to-date technical expertise. Digital marketing is for everyone. It is here to stay.
