Mitch Meyers is originally from the suburbs of Chicago and grew up with a passion for all types of sports, most notably golf. Mitch graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Sport Marketing and moved to Miami, FL to start his career. In Miami, Mitch managed the sales and marketing for the #1 Golf School In The World, The Jim McLean Golf School at Trump National Doral Golf Resort. After 4 years at Doral Resort, Mitch was presented an opportunity to specialize in digital marketing working for BlackDog Advertising. For the past 6 years, Mitch has worked with Creative Director John Penney and the team at BlackDog Advertising to create, manage, and optimize hundreds of successful digital marketing campaigns for a variety of clients.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

10 years ago the goal of SEO was just about ranking high for searches on search engines. Today the goal of SEO is maximizing visibility across The Internet. In just about every corner of The Internet you can use SEO fundamentals to improve your visibility.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

In 2008, I worked for the #1 Golf School In The World and managed their traditional sales and marketing programs. During that time, I started re-designing and optimizing their websites to convert more sales leads, which also helped to improve the overall visibility and SEO. Then in 2012, I received a great opportunity to work for John Penney at his Miami advertising agency and develop my digital marketing skills.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

BlackDog Advertising is a full service agency offering a comprehensive approach to advertising and marketing – from TV, digital and print advertising to media, strategic planning and pretty much everything in between.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

Building quality links has always been a top priority for SEO teams, but in 2018 it’s evolved to include more influencer outreach and PR mentions. It’s not just about getting the actual links, but about creating buzz and building meaningful relationships with influencers and companies in your industry.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

Digital marketing is one of the industries that traditional curriculum has a tough time keeping up with. What’s working now, could be much different than what worked 12 months ago. Obtaining a college degree in marketing will give you a great foundation, but some of the best resources to learn about digital marketing are found directly online with a quick Google search.

Apply for internships, network with industry professionals, and establish your own personal brand from the start. Learn the ropes by creating a digital footprint for your own personal brand and learn from the thought leaders of the digital marketing industry.
