Please introduce yourself and where you work.

My name is Stefan Rooijakkers and I am SEO manager at S&D Interactive Media (SDIM). We are a well-known result-driven online marketing agency from The Netherlands. Transparency, a no-nonsense attitude and quality: that’s what SDIM stands for.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

Search engines have become smarter and their algorithms are more complicated. We have access to more data, so there are more possibilities. Our profession has gained common ground with other marketing disciplines. SEO has become more challenging and way more fun over the last (10) years!

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

As a hobby, I started building websites many years ago. When I found out that there were only a few relevant visitors, I researched ways to generate more traffic. Since I had time and didn’t depend on a budget, I got the chance to dive deeper into SEO. This was my first contact with digital marketing. A few years later I became e-commerce manager. During this job my focus always remained on SEO.
As my career developed further I gained a particular interest in the technical side of online marketing and discovered that I started to think along with developers. Which is a valuable skill in SEO.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

Our SEO team specializes in many services like strategic advice, technical optimization, authority building, keyword researches, content marketing, SEO copywriting, training and more.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

Content must be more in line with the needs of the user. The search intention of a website user becomes even more important. CRO/UX is becoming more important too. Do not just think of ranking factors such as page speed and mobile websites, but also help a user to meet her or his needs. This can be a purchase, having a fun time, information need, etc. on any device, at any time and everywhere.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

The possibilities in digital marketing are really endless!
